RN Clinical Educator

The clinical training specialist is responsible for providing new hire and annual trainings to employees such as CPR, First Aid, Therapeutic Options, Tuberculosis Screening and Medication Management as well as general orientation requirements. This position will also assist in on-location topic specific trainings for any of our services. This position is also responsible for administrative tasks related to direct job responsibilities and may assist in auxiliary nursing support tasks such as medication audits, hospital discharge follow-up, and wound assessments. This position will involve regular travel to all locations to support company growth and development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provision, as delegated in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, of direct resident care to include administering injections, immunizations, oral medications, enemas and other procedures/duties as needed

  • Educates and monitors staff providing care on an ongoing basis and may refer staff to appropriate training based on competency level or individual need

  • Ensures compliance of training standards and nursing care policies, procedures and systems.

  • Regular travel to company locations, including overnight commitments, as scheduled to provide training and professional development opportunities to employees.

  • Follows all policies and procedures and regulatory requirements

  • Facilitate staff trainings during new hire orientation and annually including but not limited to: Medication Management Training & Recertification, CPR/First Aide, Therapeutic Options, and other trainings as needed to include specialized and specific medical concerns (DBHDS Safety and Quality Alerts, diabetes, epi-pen, g-tube, etc)

  • Responsible for Tuberculosis screening of all employees as outlined in the policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory agencies.

  • Provides training and assistance for specialists within locations to include but not limited; education on diagnosis, medication, injections, enemas and other areas of medical need.

  • Responsible for staying informed of industry and regulatory changes that impact that training and operations of services rendered

  • Responsible for developing content for training in collaboration with the Compliance & Training Manager

  • Responsible for administrative tasks related to training

  • Operation and Maintenance of electronic learning management systems

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Current Registered Nurse (RN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Minimum of one year experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities. Experience in adult education and/or supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities preferred.

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

The employee must have:

  • Basic Computer skills to include Outlook, Word, and Excel, and Powerpoint

  • Group and individual Training Skills

  • Knowledge of DBHDS Standards and other regulatory

  • Must be willing to travel
