A semicolon is used when a writer could choose to end a sentence; but they choose not to. That was the inspiration behind Project Semicolon—an organization with the mission of reducing suicide through awareness and community.
That mission means a lot to Kandace too. She’s one of our clients at our psychiatry and therapy office. She knows firsthand the struggles of severe mental illness and depression. But those struggles don’t define her.
Now she shares her story in order to help others. She’s got a semicolon tattooed on her arm to remind herself that her story isn’t over. She wants you to know that yours isn’t either.
